A couple of weekends ago, I went to New York City for the SCBWI NY conference. It was an amazing event with heaps of information. Conferences are a great way to deepen your craft, discover what’s hot in publishing and network with other writers.
One of the highlights of my weekend was meeting up with the OneFours who were going to the conference or lived in New York City. We navigated New York’s subway system and found the fabulous Max Brenner’s. This restaurant was amazing. As a chocolate fan, I was delighted to discover they had chocolate vats and pipes pumping chocolate throughout the restaurant.
While there, we gossiped and shared our publisher visit stories (many of us had just visited our publisher for the first time) and our writing journey. So fun. Such great times.

|After teaching and traveling internationally, Christina Farley started writing about her adventures, tossing in a little fiction for fun. This inspired her to write GILDED, a YA about a Korean-American girl with a black belt and deadly proclivity with steel-tipped arrows to be published by Amazon Children’s spring 2014. Besides writing, Christina loves traveling, running, hanging out with her two Jedi warriors, and eating dark chocolate.|
